According to sources, Apple is testing a 9-inch foldable tablet, scheduled for release in 2025.
In response to Friday’s revelation that Apple is working on new flexible OLED screens, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known leaker of accurate information about Apple’s future ambitions, alleges that the company is “currently testing a 9-inch foldable tablet.”
According to Kuo, the testing equipment checks that the technology works, but it is not a part of the final product specification. Apple’s foldable development strategy will be emphasized by starting from medium to large, then to small.
The first foldable iPhone, according to Kuo, will have an 8-inch display. When fully opened, an 8-inch display would be nearly as large as the 8.3-inch display on the iPad mini. Kuo also revealed that the next smartphone would sport a hybrid Touch and Display screen.

According to another source, Apple is working with LG on a 7.5-inch OLED foldable display panel.
Kuo believes that any foldable phone already on the market would pale compared to Apple’s 9-inch foldable device.
He explained that it was evident that his prognosis of an Apple foldable in 2024 needed to be revised and that 2025 now seemed to be a more feasible target.
He now believes that this product will not be produced until 2025 and that it will be either a foldable iPad or a folding iPad/iPhone hybrid, as previously stated.
Later this year, Apple is expected to replace its current best iPhone, the iPhone 13, with a new model that will not be foldable but will have a better processor and camera than the current model.
Because it seems a long way to go before the iPhone Flip launches, everything until then is tentative. This could imply that many of the rumors will change before then. What is certain is that Apple is interested in foldable technology and does not want any other company to have a monopoly on the market.
The foldable smartphone industry is still in its early stages. Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Flip 3 Bespoke Edition shortly after the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 were released, allowing mix and match colors on the foldable devices. Microsoft’s Surface Duo 2 with dual screens is also available today. The race to create the best foldable phone is on.
So, when will Apple join the battle? The company normally waits until it is confident that it can surpass the competition before producing new products. Although the iPhone was not the first smartphone, it outpaced its predecessors.
The iPhone Flip’s debut date is unknown, although current speculations suggest that it will be released in 2023 or 2024.
According to display analyst Ross Young, who has a track record for being spot on with such forecasts, Apple could release a foldable iPhone next year. He also predicted that a device similar to this would be available in 2024.
