On Saturday, American stand-up comedian Jerrod Carmichael poked fun at the recent Oscar Slap Incident in his Saturday Night Live show.
After humorously narrating the infamous Oscar incident before the audience, Jerrod even recreated the whole scene with a co-actor, Chris Redd.
The famous American comedian entered the show wearing a weird no-shirt suit and immediately cautioned that he would not talk about the Oscars slap incident. He jokes that he now thinks it has become years old, not just last Sunday.
He said that he promised himself that he would never talk about that, but Lorne entered his dressing room. Commenting on the unfortunate incident, Lorne Michaels had been told that the nation needs to heal.
Saturday Night Live show had enough cast to recreate the whole Oscar scene.
Jerrod humorously tells the entire Jada joke and waits for the fallout as Chris Redd (acting Will Smith) screams from the audience, warning Jerrod to keep his wife’s name out of his dirty mouth.
Last week’s Saturday Night Live show also saw various other jokes and comments on the infamous Oscars incident. One Jost joked about the notorious slap adding that it set a dangerous “precedent for having to defend your wife at award shows.”
Poking fun at Will Smith’s apology for slapping Chris Rock in which, he seems to have defended his actions by saying, “Love will make you do crazy things,” Che said, “You know what also makes you do crazy things? Crazy”.
What was the much talked about Oscar Incident?
Will Smith slapping Chris Rock became one of the most talked-about and one of the most shocking incidents in this Oscar ceremony.
The completely unexpected event occurred when the host Chris Rock was about to announce the winners. But before he made the final announcement, he probably thought it suitable to make a few jokes about Will Smith and his wife Jada, who suffers from a rare medical condition because of which he has gone almost bald.
Pointing at Will and Jada, Chris joked, “Jada, I love you. GI Jane 2, can’t wait to see you.”
GI, Jane was a character in a late 1990s movie where the women character went bald to get herself enrolled in the armed forces.
Though Will Smith was seen laughing at the joke, Jada didn’t as she rolled her eyes in disapproval. A few moments later, Smith lost his cool, walked up to the stage, and punched the comedian, equally taken aback by the gesture.
Will didn’t appear to be appeased by the punch after returning to his seat. He angrily shouted at Rock to “keep his wife’s name “out [his] f*****g mouth” several times.
Interestingly, Will Smit later won the Oscars. Later, however, he publicly apologized for his behavior as public outcry against his unruly and violent behavior grew louder.
The whole event became a much talked about moment of this years Oscars, for which even the Academy, too, had to issue a clarification.
