Maggie Valley evacuations ordered as wildfire threatens homes

According to Haywood County Emergency Management, a brush fire is endangering residences in the Maggie Valley area. Maggie Valley is a North Carolina town. Wildflowers and black bears can be found nearby in the forested Great Smoky Mountains National Park

According to a representative for the agency, 20 acres of Sheepback Mountain are on fire. Approximately nine different fire departments have been dispatched to the scene.

People living north of Pless Underwood Road have been advised to evacuate.

According to officials, the fire occurred around 2:30 p.m., but the cause has yet to be determined. The battle is becoming more difficult due to the dry and windy circumstances.

Smoke is expected in the valley, according to residents. 911 should only be called if your home or surrounding property is directly threatened, according to emergency services.

Officials claim that the fire has hurt no one. Calvary Road Baptist Church has established a reunion center. Locals are advised to stay away from the area to allow crews to work.
