There were six deaths and more than a dozen injuries in the city of Sacramento on Sunday due to shooters opening fire.
Investigators are working to identify the individuals involved in this heinous conduct, according to Sacramento Police Chief Katherine Lester. They stated that they were aware of a huge brawl before the shootings and that there were multiple shooters engaged.
The cause of the heinous shooting is yet unknown.
Sergio Harris’ mother, Pamela Harris, said that whatever happened was completely insane. She believes she is at a fork in the road and can’t determine what to do next. She finds it difficult to believe anything.
Attorney General Rob Bonta urged anyone to contact authorities with information about the shooting.
Unfathomable acts of mass violence
According to Lester, a large crowd had gathered around 10th and K streets when gunfire erupted at 2 a.m. on Sunday. However, she did say that she had no idea if the crowd was related to any particular location or event. When officers in the area heard gunfire, they reacted quickly.
Sacramento police crime scene investigators are hard at work on 10th Street.
Based on a video posted on social media before the shooting, authorities believe there was an incident. According to one statement, they are examining if such occurrences had anything to do with the shooting. Sources claim that a portion of the incident was filmed on a neighboring camera.
For reasons that are still unknown, three men and three women were killed. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has notified their relatives.
A stolen revolver was discovered amid hundreds of pieces of evidence, according to Lester.
The incident occurred in a bustling downtown area, just blocks from the California State Capitol, Sacramento City Hall, and the Golden 1 Center, which hosted the Sacramento Kings’ game versus the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.
Steve Kerr, the head coach of the Golden State Warriors, feels that both teams should observe a moment of silence before the game.
Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg stressed that answers, not well wishes, are needed to help reverse America’s gun violence tragedy.
Thoughts and prayers, he claims, are no longer adequate. It is past time for the United States to have a rational conversation about guns.
He stated that he would continue to invest in initiatives that prevent youth violence and provide early intervention.
Steinberg said that everyone should do everything to protect the city and its public.
During a statement about gun violence, Gov. Gavin Newsom said everyone should commit to ending it.
President Joe Biden went on to say that Sacramento is another city that has been destroyed by gun violence, and he encouraged Congress to act on the issue.
“In a single incident in Sacramento, six people were killed, and at least a dozen more were injured,” Biden said. “Families were forever changed as a result of this. Those who survived were left to heal both visible and invisible wounds.”
